Data Base Server
It is a remote, RPC (Remote Procedure Call) based server
operating on the simple database in which named data fields are
referenced using the integer hooks. It supports remote or local
data input, data extraction and client notification.
Data Base Server was designed to be as much compatible as possible
with the Argonne National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory
EPICS system.
The main task of the Data Base Server is to interface various
tools of the YOGI system.
It also communicates with the
Command Server - interface to the
Command Language Layer of the MPIA IR camera systems (OMEGA, MAGIC, MAX).
Data Base Server can be executed on any host. All DataBase clients communicate
with it using the RPC protocol. Available client requests are:
- crate and initialize data field,
- return hook to the named data field,
- eneter data field value,
- retrive data field value,
- request to be notified about data field change,
- cancel request to be notified about data field change.
Data Base Server informs its clients about:
- Data Base Server initialization,
- data field change.
Data Base supports the following data-types: BYTE, SHORT, LONG, FLOAT,
DOUBLE, STRING.
