Scientific Research in the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw
Bibliometric Information
The research staff, PhD students and very often the brightest MSc students publish the results of their scientific studies in the leading astronomical journals. The scientific outcome of the Observatory scientists is presented in the table below:

Scientists from the Observatory belong to the most often cited Polish scientists having also the highest Hirsch’ h-index – the bibliometric index describing in the most complete way the scientific position of the scientist.
The average Hirsch h-index per Observatory staff member is equal to 30; h-index of eight scientists exceeds 35 (h=54 for the ranking leader), what confirms the high scientific level of the research conducted in the Observatory (data according to the Web of Science).

In the years 2000-2012 the Observatory scientists were awarded 48 scientific grants financed by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
