GLObal solar Wind Structure experiment: the first light of the Polish UV photometer on the IMAP mission

Streszczenie:
The heliosphere is a solar wind-filled bubble surrounding the Sun. Its characteristics are determined by both solar conditions and the properties of the Interstellar Medium (ISM). Understanding the processes shaping the heliosphere and its interaction with the ISM is crucial for studying the evolution of other astrospheres. The Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP) mission is a heliospheric observatory equipped with 10 complementary instruments. One of these instruments – GLObal solar Wind Structure (GLOWS) – was designed and built at the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CBK PAS). This presentation will focus on the current status of the GLOWS instrument development.
